Refunds & Returns Policy

The Shot Machine

At The Shot Machine, we are committed to providing quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. This Returns & Refunds Policy is designed to be fair, transparent, and fully compliant with the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”) of South Africa.


1. Returns Policy

1.1 Eligibility for Returns

You may request a return under the following conditions:

  • The return request is made within 30 days of delivery

  • The item is unused, unopened, and in its original packaging

  • All original components, including accessories, manuals, and tags, are included

Certain items are not eligible for return, except where required under the CPA:

  • Custom-made or personalised products

  • Special-order items

  • Perishable goods

  • Clearance or final sale items

Product-specific return conditions may also apply and will be indicated on the product page.


1.2 CPA Cooling-Off Right (Direct Marketing)

In accordance with Section 16 of the CPA, if your purchase resulted from direct marketing, you have the right to cancel the transaction within 5 business days of delivery without penalty.

  • You may be responsible for return shipping costs

  • A reasonable fee may be charged for goods returned not in original condition


1.3 Defective or Faulty Goods (CPA Section 56)

Under the CPA, all goods carry an implied warranty of quality for 6 months from delivery.

If a product is defective, unsafe, or not as described, you are entitled to:

  • A repair,

  • A replacement, or

  • A full refund

This is at your discretion, provided the issue is not due to misuse, abuse, or normal wear and tear.


2. How to Initiate a Return

To request a return:

  1. Contact The Shot Machine using the details below

  2. Provide your order number and reason for return

  3. Wait for return approval and instructions

⚠️ Important: Returns sent without prior authorization may be declined.


3. Return Shipping

  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless:

    • The item is defective,

    • The item was damaged on delivery, or

    • The incorrect item was supplied

  • We strongly recommend using a trackable courier service

  • The Shot Machine is not responsible for lost or undelivered return parcels


4. Return & Refund Summary

  • Return Period: 30 days from delivery

  • Refund Processing Time: Up to 10 business days after approval

  • Restocking Fees: None (unless item is returned damaged or not in original condition)

  • Return Method: Courier or approved shipping method

  • Return Label: Customer responsibility (unless item is faulty/incorrect)

  • Currency: ZAR (South African Rand)


5. Refunds Policy

5.1 Refund Processing

Once your returned item has been received and inspected:

  • You will receive confirmation of approval or rejection

  • Approved refunds will be processed within 10 business days

  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method

Please note that banks and payment providers may take additional time to reflect the refund.


5.2 Partial Refunds

Partial refunds may be issued where:

  • The item is not returned in its original condition

  • The item is damaged (not due to our error)

  • Parts or accessories are missing

  • The product shows signs of use


5.3 Non-Refundable Items

The following are generally non-refundable (unless required by law):

  • Shipping or delivery fees (unless item is defective or incorrect)

  • Gift cards or vouchers

  • Clearance or final sale items

  • Custom or personalised products


6. Late or Missing Refunds

If you have not received your refund:

  1. Check your bank account again

  2. Contact your bank or card provider

  3. Allow sufficient processing time

If the issue persists, please contact us directly.


7. Exchanges

We only replace items where:

  • The product is defective,

  • The product is damaged, or

  • The incorrect item was delivered

If you require an exchange for the same item, please contact us to arrange the process.


8. Compliance with South African Law

This policy is governed by and interpreted in accordance with:

  • The Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (CPA)

  • The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA)

  • Other applicable South African consumer protection laws

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights under South African law.
